29g saltwater biocube questions?
Hi RC. I have a file biocube 29g. I have a few questions. What are some improvements we should consider? brands of powerheads good and the price? Protien skimmer good? What should I add first anemone or clown? good sand sifting fish? options for staff Cleaning? which will take care of my brown algae in my liverock? and actions bioballs good filtering mechanism? ¿I can take out and put the live rock? some advice? if this is probably your saltwater tank first. i own this tank and can help you out. You can upgrade the lighting either by removing the lid and get a improved lighting and metal halide which is better, but much more expensive, or change the lighting. Their is a company that modifies the bells biocube to covenants to maintain six instead of 2 and some have metal halide. again very expensive, the lighting is good value for LPS and soft corals. is not sufficient to anemones and SPS. I like my Hydor biocube submersible, does a good job of providing an opposite current to the output of the filter. oceanic skimmer makes a good anything is better than nothing. that fits into the first filter chamber HTE. biocube doesn't have enough lighting for a long time, anemone can survive a 5 months before it is bleached. Gobys shifting sands are fine, but I like to use sea stars instead of quicksand, and to send as large and destructive as gobies. personal cleaning are hermit crabs, snails and turbo Tuban, peppermint cleaner shrimp brown algae is normal for the rock. the bioballs well, do what they are to do, but most of us take out guards nano and the use of rubble in place of live rock for better biological filtration. This tank can really be great, I have my BC29 on youtube and get good information, very stable, but slower actions, mine has been held for about 7 months and has over 25 species of corals.
